Latest News on the Mechanics Institution, Emlyn square.

Not much News, 'cept the building is just as derelict as ever and the roofs are now holed in multiple places! :-(
Mind you English Heritage went in to inspect the building last Summer and said they were surprised to see that the building had NOT degraded as much as they thought it would have. Guess they knew how to build in those days, heh :-)

The NMIP trust is possibly also at a turning point! The Council and some members of the sitting board have raised a few questions I believe, and the charities Commision might be asking a few members of the board to step down.

Their last Annual Meeting was cancelled from lack of ??? I think it's rescheduled in March.

If you REALLY are an interested party and would like some action soon, how about helping the 'sensible' board members and the council, by attending the re-scheduled Annual General Meeting of the NMIPT and surporting them.

If you have had any valid concerns about the running of the NMIPT before, now is the time to voice them by emailing

Maybe then, we and the NMIPT can work together to slowly bring life back to the 'Unseen University', 'Mini Cathedral', 'Mechanic Dancing Hall'......
