Friends of the Mechanics

We would like to start an organisation called the "Friends of the Mechanics".

We are not going to ask for a one off £1 but invite people interested in the Mechanics to set up a standing order/direct debit of what ever amount they like (say £1 a month) and become friends of the Mechanics. But the above is ONLY a request. Anyone can still be a Friend for free if they can't afford a regular donation.

If my 'cunning plan' works and the council issue a CPO, then when the proposed company is formed so will "Friends of the Mechanics". People will be able to set up direct debits or standing orders to its account.

The company will organise emergency repairs to the Mechanics with help from the Friends of the Mechanics. Perhaps in time the Friends with help from the company could restart these famous outings that used to be organised.
There may already be existing organisations that may like to be part of this?
E.g. Rotaract, NMIPT, etc.

The main idea of people being "Friends of the Mechanics" is to raise donations and get great deals for the Mechanics and its friends.

For example!
If British Gas decided to give the proposed company an offer of minimal free heating and electricity for a year or two and lend it a couple of industrial dehumidifiers. Then the company would ask its Friends to support British Gas by purchasing their electricity from British Gas. Of course if SWEB did the same then the power of the free market would rule and the company offering the best deal for the Mechanics would be recommended to the Friends of the Mechanics! :-)

How about glazing? Any offers?

Any firms, shops, organisations or companies that would like to offer such deals to the Mechanics or perhaps discounts for "Friends of the Mechanics" are welcome to contact me. Any such pledges of donations or offers will have web pages/sites created for free! And we will include their company names in any publication. Free advertising! :-)

The Pledges form can register your interest in becoming a Friend of the Mechanics.
