HOWTO fry Quorn without it 'jumping
out of the pan'.
It's best to use frozen Quorn pieces or Mince
.
With the heat off, add quite a bit of cooking oil to the pan.
(I prefer Rape seed oil as it has little taste and doesn't give
the quorn an olive oil taste)
Add the Quorn Pieces or Mince and mix with the oil.
If the Quorn is frozen the oil should thicken and will coat the
Quorn better.
Then turn up the heat to a medium heat and fry the Quorn, turning
until after a while you can cover the pan and leave it so the
Quorn browns. (or burns if you're not carefull :-(
Add what ever sauce you like. Try 'Lloyd Grossman's Tomato and
Chilli' sauce with spaghetti, it has a nice 'angry' bite to it! :-)
Where to get Quorn!
Sainsbury have Fresh quorn you can freeze and usually have it in
stock.
Tesco have small frozen bags which are more expensive and
sometimes are out of stock.
Asda, could never find it :-(
Other shops usually don't stock Quorn Mince and Pieces, but
sometimes stock specialised Quorn products like sausages together
with the 'Linda McCartney stuff'. Watch out for the Best by date
in some shops. Quorn isn't the most bought item.

Karsten
