Some ideas and possible uses of the building !

1. The council moving the Library to the old Mechanics Library under a 15 year rent free lease.
2. Mothballing, deep freezing most of the mechanics by boarding up windows and covering with plastic sheeting.
3. An internet cafe (coffee, toasted sandwiches, salads etc. similar to TV series 'Friends')
   There are numerous companies already doing this. Eg. www.easyeverything.co.uk, www.nutopia.com
4. Small retail businesses (art shops, pet food shops, gardening shop outlets, etc) shops similar to those found in Markets.
5. Possibly a furniture storage company using the older more derelict 'church halls'.
6. A Crèche for people visiting the Outlet Village or the Town Centre. (Should grab Julia Drown's interest! ;-)
7. Erecting a temporary partition wall to block off the mothballed area. (Behind Entrance Hall, south end)
8. An idea for the 'church halls' would be to install a removable mezzanine level using an independent structure similar to the ones used in the converted churches of Aberdeen and in the Art college in Euclid street. Thereby not disturbing the original structure at all.
9. Basic Gym available for Friends of the Mechanics and sponsoring companies
   (most companies will not sponsor charities or projects which have nothing to dowith their employees)
10. Restoration of the oldest Theatre in Britain.
    (it will be slow but worth it as a tourist attraction and make Swindon better known)
